"Angel"

by Amy

I don't need to be an angel, But to have wings might set me free From all that might discourage My attempts at being me. I don't want to be an angel, But what would there be to fear? I'd be living in the light of God, And worries would seem so mear I can't try to be an angel. I will always be a mortal underneath. The halo and the flowing robes Can't shadow sin from me. But if I were an angel, I know exactly how it would feel: Like being close to my own soul, I'd know my fate was sealed.
